Come with us to visit the West Branch Victorian Art Fair.  Thousands of people from all over the state and beyond come to enjoy hundreds of exhibits at one of Michigan's Finest Art Fairs!  This Victorian-themed extravaganza showcases the work of more than 275 juried vendors offering handmade crafts of every conceivable art.  Enjoy free entertainment on the outdoor stage and choose from a variety of summer's favorite foods and snacks.

We will also visit Standish where you can see the newly remodeled Michigan Central railroad depot built in 1889.  Tour two 1954 British Railroad passenger cars and a 1929 D&M caboose.   Then see the Standish Car & Motorcycle Show.  There are 43 classes of Antiques, Street Machines, Customs, Rods, Classics, Trucks, Tractors and Motorcycles.

The excursion departs from Bay City on August 11, 2007 at 8:00 am and picks up passengers at Pinconning and Standish.  We arrive in West Branch at 11:00 am.  After a side trip for West Branch residents, you board at 3:00 pm to travel to Standish to see the car show, sidewalk days, and newly restored depot.

2006 Trips

Travel on the Algonquin Park is on the routes of Amtrak in the U.S. and VIA Rail in Canada.  Each week the railcar will travel to a specific destination.  These trips will consist of the travel portion, the on-board meals, off-train events and other exciting activities. Each trip will be put together with the owners in mind and their input.  Exceptional activities are planned around each destination and the various happenings in that city.

ALGONQUIN PARK

THE NORTHERN ARROW

August 4 – 9, 2006

Enjoy the great sights of Western Michigan in the summer.  Visit the cities where the rich and famous from Chicago spent their summers away from the heat.  Swim in the cool sun lit Lake Michigan.  Spend time as we travel the Michigan countryside with other private railroad cars for a special trip to Petoskey, Michigan, on a train trip we call “The Northern Arrow.”

Petoskey

Early 1900’s

The Canadian Pacific dome observation lounge car, Algonquin Park, will be joined with the Union Pacific sleeper, Pacific Sands, for this great adventure.  Enjoy your private room or roam the cars meeting other passengers.  We plan three stops on each of our two Michigan travel days.  We even plan to stop the train near a city park, debark and have a traditional box lunch as our private train waits.  Special trips to Mackinaw Island will be available once we arrive in Petoskey.

Come and join us on this one of a kind railroad adventure.   This promises to be a very unique private railroad experience.  Rare mileage fans and historical railway buffs alike will find something special on this trip.  Learn about the history of “The Northern Arrow” when it was a summer resort train bringing the wealthy from Illinois and Ohio to the beautiful northern Michigan area.
